Those affected by the recent storms in the South may want to check out the Global Alert Networks hands-free mobile alerts app. Available for Android and BlackBerry phones, the app runs in the background and uses your phone’s GPS chip to determine if you’re within range of severe weather. If so, it’ll send you an audio message that gets automatically downloaded to your phone and played over its speaker.
